Twin brothers Marc & Tony Stevenson were inspired by the rocking horses made by their uncle James Bosworthick, and set up their partnership in 1982 after Tony had served his rocking horse making apprenticeship. Starting in a small workshop on their family farm, they now have over 11,000 sq ft of workshops and showrooms, with plans to create the first rocking horse Museum.
Each horse made in their workshop is unique and will become a family heirloom to be handed down from generation to generation. They make horses in a huge variety of timbers, often chosen to match real horses colouring. One can choose from Walnut, Mahogany, Maple, Oak or Cherry polished or waxed. The traditional favourites are painted dapple grey and fitted with horse hair and miniature tack made by their in-house saddler.
Often asked to make horses resembling the real thing, they have made a horse for Her Majesty the Queen, based on her favourite coloured horse Tinkerbell, which is now offered as a limited edition of 100. pieces.
Having achieved this highest accolade their work is collected all over the world. They have turned a toy into an art form, a useable sculpture that gives a cracking time to riders of all ages.
