19th Century Life-Size Tobacconist's Carved Advertising Figure.

This rare life-size carved and polychrome painted tobacconist's figure is in the form of a Scottish Highlander taking snuff. The original of this particular Highland model reputedly stood outside a tobacconist in Edinburgh, circa 1720 to signify that they not only supplied snuff and tobacco but that Jacobite supporters were welcome on the premises.
