A superb George II period tripod table with birdcage mechanism.

6,500.00

The top is a single piece of mahogany and one can see underneath that the bearers and catch have never been moved, the 7th image shows where the block has rubbed on the underside of the top in the same place since the day it was made.

The birdcage mechanism, allowing the top to rotate, has the rare feature of the supporting columns being turned to replicate the main stem.

It measures 28” high, 26¾” wide across the grain and 27¼” with the grain, a sure sign as to its authenticity and age.
