Pair of Carolean period carved wood, gesso and parcel gilt frames.

A superb pair of Carolean carved wood, gesso and parcel gilt frames. Originally to hold a portrait of a lady and a gentleman, later fitted with two 18th century mirror plates. The scrolling and stylised form is typical of the late 17th century English period.

Traces of the original gilding are still evident.
