19th Century Italian Gilt Table with Pink Marble Top, Putti, Vines and Grapes.

36,500.00

An extraordinary console or centre table, the base with carved wood and gilt gesso formed of Bacchanalian putti amongst a vine with branches, leaves and bunches of grapes, on a simulated rocky ground. The gilding a wonderful warm gold, slight rubbed in places, the marble possibly Nembro Rosato. A very rare table indeed, finished all round and with canted corners so can be placed in the centre of a room or against a wall.

Similar to a pair of late 17th century tables in the Palazzo Colonna in Rome.
